Speech Choir Piece
The Resiliency of a Filipino
by William G. Bacani
B : Filipino is resilient
G : Since time immemorial, we are tested by countless calamities; volcanic eruptions, devastating earthquakes and lahar flows, super typhoons, flash floods and landslides.
B : Victoriously, we surmounted these ordeals and pains, beyond imagination of the human race
G : Instant death of our loved ones, claimed by transportation mishaps and natural disasters. Thousands also die in hunger and malnutrition.
All : Including ambushes and endless wars in Mindanao. They trampled our basic human rights, such as the right to live
G (solo) : I lost my loving husband, who didn't want to join Abu Sayyaf.
G (solo) : I lost my only son, who opted to become a military man.
G : We lost our innocent children and women, we lost our homes and properties.
B : Survivors are Filipinos. The wrath of nature and cruel destiny may steal everything from us.
B (solo) : Wealth, properties, and family
All : But the Filipinos never give up
B : For us we are continuously scourged by the test of time. The spirit to survive and to bounce back remains undefeated
All : I'm as pliant as a bamboo for I'm a man of Earth
G : My hair may all be blown away by the winds
B : And my legs may be crippled by the smash of waves
All : But I will stand and pick up the shattered pieces of myself and continue to live
B : Resolute to survive, clothed with an inspiration to live, not only for my family but also for my beloved country
All : Filipinos unite in the midst of crisis, regardless of socio-economic status, tradition and creed
G : The world has seen the magnanimous spirit of the Filipinos in crucial times.
All : The gap between the rich and the poor was narrowed
G (solo) : Envy was replaced by sympathy
G (solo) : Hatred was conquered by love
B (solo) : Selfishness was set aside
B : And saving one's live is the ultimate desire
All : History tells us that the Filipinos have captured innumerable foes, natural and not. And shall always strive to champion in all odds. Because innate in the Filipino is the will to survive
B : We may be daunted by the horrible scenes around us. But certainly, we will be strengthened by our unwavering faith in God.
G : We have been lotted by many nations in the world, for our resiliency during disasters, others die in saving lives.
All : But only few realize, that we are able to survive, because our spirit to fight is deeply anchored from faith, that God Almighty will never forsake us.
B (solo) : I believe that Filipinos, divided by varied doctrines and cultures, are capable to be on top of any situation, if united
All : Together, we can face any challenge ahead of us.
B : We may stumble and fall
All : But we will bounce back, arms stronger with vision and faith, that after darkness, after pains and sufferings, the Filipino survives, the Filipino is resilient.

Whatever will be still the best BSE-1B
Its been 5 months of laughing , sacrifice and hard-working that the BSE-1B shared of. We built a strong foundation of love and friendship. It is very hard for me to say goodbye to those person who is with me since my day in college started. Those days of tripping, bonding, and heartaches that we have will surely makes me sad as I reminisce them. How I wish that we will still be classmates in second Semester. But truth hinder saying me that it is impossible. I am wondering if what will happen on me? I will face again an adjustment in making new friends; making new memory. This saying really exist- " Change is the only word that doesn't change". After the finals, ohh my!,its the time to say goodbye :-( But am I over reacting? Ohh sorry. I'm so madrama. Haha. Wake-up Clarice! It doesn't mean that you will not see each other for a years. It is just an adjustment because I will not see them everyday but only maybe for quiet sometime. Maybe I must not see its negative side but I should appreciate its good side. It will leads me to have more friends . Because the distance will only change, and our memories and friendship will not.

Faces of Love
Love...love..love...love makes the world go round; everyone can do impossible thing and finds ecstasy in everything called love. But does love really mean that makes it the center of people's lives?
For many decades after our ancestors fought triumphantly for our country's freedom, do we still know or even be aware of what love for country is? Love for country doesn't have a side of selfishness, it is loving without conditions and willingness to serve without an exchange and also giving big importance and strong belief with the truth, justice and equality of rights under the Moral law and law of Constitutions. Before, we have many ways to show love for our country like revolutions, but right now we can show it in simple but meaningful ways.this can be done by being law abiding citizens , obviously this matter is one of the problems of our country today. Why? It is simply as this, most of us doesn't follow rules because of selfish reasons. Wake Up! Law must not be the one to adjust , we should be the one doing it. The worst is why we are blaming the government for this irritating traffic issue? Are they really are the one to be blamed? Stop it! If we will continue such thinking the issue will be worsen. Its the time for us to be open minded and think broader. My there Filipinos, all of this is the effect of our ignorance about the law. How can we fight for ourselves if we are not aware on our rights and obligations. Wake Up!
One more thing, people kept on complaining about the PDAP, Scam, Political Dynasty, Corruption and many controversy in the government. But is it unfair that they are the only one to be blamed? Oops! Remember , we are the one who put those corrupted officials on their positions.Admit that we are brainwashed by their popularity, wealth, fake and impossible programs. Oops, don't deny that you have seen it by your two eyes but you decided to be blind. We abuse our voters right to choose and vote for someone that really deserve and well-oriented for such position. We are the one who do so its our obligation to break it. As the people of Philippines its our obligation to sustain the needs of ourselves, conserve and preserve the beauty of our nation.

I AM A CBSUANS !!!
Corruption, criminalities and poverty- these are many illnesses of the country that badly needs reform. Our half dead country needs an effecient, competent and highly committed samaritan, a person who can help carrying the mandate to serve, can sacrifice his/her own personal advantage and someone who is disciplined.
As a student, integrity, courage and discipline are my primary and profound virtues. These virtues serve as my foundation to bring out my capacity to help me escape from the chains of poverty. In turn, it allows me to be of sense to others.
As a woman , I have been struggling and awakened by the terrible system of our country. Our social and political issues are alarming. Each day, I have seen myself, struggling to shout out, stand up and to push down corruption in our society. As a student of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) it brings one step ahead on me to an ordinary citizen. Indeed, it is a big opportunity for me to be responsible in reaching one roadmap and advocacy- To make our country a better place to live in.
Starting at the point of caring and respecting our Mother Nature through participating in an Eco-friendly programs and activities of the school and community. Yes to a Green CBSUA! Yes to a Green Ecosystem! Yes to a Green Philippines ! And next is enlightening youth's mind with their obligations as the hope of our fatherland simply by being a disciplined student leader and ofcourse as a future teacher of this society. Third is to promote world peace through being a people-person who brings charm and rapport to everyone who looks at me and one who become a source of strenght , love and motivation. Lastly, to set a strong relationship with my family and God by showing my geatest affection and attention for them, by being trusted in times of trials and God will be our light, comfort and candle in my
weaknesses.
Thisis my advocacy! As a student of CBSUA and a future teacher, I will share my God's gift of leadership and intelligence through serving the public. "Knowing is not enough, we must apply efforts. willing is not enough, we must do something.

DREAMS AND ASPIRATIONS
A famous philosopher once said, "Every man is the artisan of his our fortune." Life's journey is full of different routes as people have different goals in living. Struggles and trials will always come not to hinder us but to help us to have courage to achieve our dreams in life. I find myself as a girl struggling behind a happy mask . When I'm in Grade 1 what I only knew was to go to school and sit until the classes end. it was in grade 5 until now in college that I have felt the growing financial problem in the family. I have come to realize the importance of attending school. It's not just to sit around; listening to the sermons of the teachers and excitedly waiting for the bell rang for the recess or break, but to make a difference when my time comes. It was then that I learned to dream big with not enough money in going to school. I shrived hard passed all my quizzes. In spite of our situation, I never let myself be discouraged, instead, it gives me motivation to do better in my study.
My dream is the one that makes me go on each day. To have a dream is easy for me because it is free. But to reach my dream cost too much of what I have, it requires a hundred pails of sweat and many years of sufferings and sacrifices. But when I already reached my goals the feeling will be priceless. And at this time I'm in my step in reaching it. I am preparing to be a Professional Teacher. I know that for a single mistake may lead me to distraction. I know its not easy but I'm not alone in this journey. I have God to guide me 'till the end. This dream of mine came from many broken hearts, yet there is still a heart full of hope that my ambition will be the answer for all my problems. I think of it positively with full trust and confident. "Opportunity is always there but without ability and interest it is useless".

Message to my Future Self
For the one I care
Hi
Clarice! It’s nice to be your present. Gorgeous and marvelous –words that
definitely fit your identity. As your
mirror of the present, it’s my privilege to guide you. As you walk on your
path, keep in touch with God. Don’t neglect the blessings he showered on you.
Defray it by being a candle that lights on someone’s life. Let love and peace
prevail in your heart as you trace your future. Remember that you’re the most
beautiful creation of God that is worth finding for.
I
have something to confess on you my future. I’m sorry for what I have been now.
You will observed that I became slim and had lose my weight since I started my
college. I’m praying that 10 years from
now you will change me and be stouter and possess a good body stature. I hope
that after 2 or 3 months I can adjust on my college. There are things that I
want you to do to be a better Clarice Batangoso in the future. You must study
hard and gather not only knowledge but also wisdom and memories that you can
used when you were a teacher in the future. Set your goals and put your
concentration on it. Also focused on your priorities, don’t be too haste in
many things because everything must be on time and based on God’s will. Distraction
may not only affect yourself and future but also your family’s dream. As a
citizen of this society and a future teacher someday, be productive and
generous. You will be a weapon of this country against ignorance and poverty so
make a good job. Clarice, be promised that you will try your best to lessen the
problems of our generation, you’re a future teacher so we are expecting that
change will start on your hand. I
believe that you will not waste the time and opportunity.
Let
me share to you this. Back to my childhood years, I accidentally fallen in the
bicycle. I cried loudly as my mother get
me on the street. She said, “If you fall and get wounded, don’t be afraid to be
wounded again”. My dear future it’s a big indicator that you must love and care
yourself .Be optimistic and don’t give up as problems hinder you on your way.
Don’t be scared on changes. Change is the only word that is constant and
doesn’t change so embrace it. Don’t make it as a weakness rather a strength. When
problems strikes, don’t let stress kill and down you. Take a break and rest
when you’re tired but never stop. When time comes that you really feel down and
alone, face on the mirror and remember me; all the experience, heartaches,
disappointment, sweat and sacrifice that I’ve gained and overcome in reaching
what you are now, and think that it may suddenly fades and become worthless
when you stop and give up. Remember one thought from Albert Einstein that “Life
is like a bicycle, to keep your balance, you must keep moving”.
